Article 7: HUffington Post
This article discusses the affects of global warming.
summary:
In recent years, scientists have continued their research into the effects of global warming on our environment. Many scientists believe that these events are the result of global warming. One scientist in particular, James Hansen, has conducted very detailed studies on the global climate change. He believes that decades ago, these high summer temperatures would have been extremely rare, but now they are all too common. For example, in the 1980's he noted Washington, D.C. only experienced nine days of temperatures over 95 degrees, but they actually experienced 23 days of high temperatures in 2012. Hansen has educated numerous other scientists and has somewhat opened a new door of science by recognizing the vast changes in our climate. His studies, along with several other researchers, has led to more findings and will continue to act as a key part of the global warming analysis. Other scientists disagree with Hansen's points in comparing our current climate to climates in the past. Either way, all scientists agree that our climate is changing very quickly and drastically due to our actions that are increasing global warming. The burning of fossil fuels is a major factor in global warming because it releases chloroflurocarbons into the air. Scientists are continuing to research and conduct more studies to find more information into the causes and effects of global warming and climate change. Hopefully, new ideas and regulations will develop to end the process of a warming global climate.
OPinion:
I have read and learned about global warming and global climate change many times. This problem has been the topic of conversation for climate change scientists. Many people do not realize the potential danger and the current issues of warming on our planet. As the heat waves continue, droughts and other environmental problems will continue to arise. It is important for people to not only become educated about the topic, but to understand the necessary actions needed to prevent global warming from escalating. I have learned global warming is becoming much more serious, and there is no longer a question if it really exist. The only question now about global warming is how serious and dangerous it is becoming to our Earth. The article surprised me when it mentioned certain events, including the drought in Oklahoma or the heat waves in the Middle East and Russia, could not have occurred without the existence of global warming. Another fact that surprised me was the scientists who agreed these rises in heat and the frequency of these high temperatures are not likely to have occurred during the 50's, but now they are almost expected. Although it is difficult to imagine all of the effects of global climate change, it is becoming a reality that we will have to learn to control and monitor.
